The Hermit
The Hermit
The Hermit represents reflection, study, and the search for deeper understanding. Rather than looking for answers from the outside world, The Hermit encourages us to slow down, pay attention, and trust what we've learned through experience.
If you've never had a tarot reading before, you might be wondering what it's actually like.
The short answer? Probably a lot less dramatic than you're imagining.
People often picture a tarot reader as someone who instantly knows all your secrets or predicts your future. My readings don't work that way.
In fact, my path to reading tarot started pretty quietly.
My mom started collecting tarot decks because she liked the artwork. Naturally I wanted to look through them too. Around that same time I was becoming interested in crystals, chakras, and all kinds of things that made my local bookstore very happy.
It always starts with crystals.
Eventually I bought my own deck and a guidebook and completely fell down the rabbit hole. I wanted to know everything. What each card meant. What crystal was associated with it. What chakra. What number. What astrological sign. If there was information to learn, I devoured it.
I filled journals with notes from daily readings. Not just a few sentences here and there. Pages and pages. I tracked cards, patterns, events, feelings, and questions. Looking back, I definitely spent more time studying tarot than actually reading for other people (that didn’t come until a few years later).
That's where The Hermit comes in.
The Hermit isn't the loudest card in the deck. He doesn't rush. He doesn't demand attention. He studies. He observes. He gathers wisdom one small piece at a time. Quiet reflection. Time spent alone.
That was me for years.
As I continued studying, I eventually became Reiki certified. Over time, that became part of how I read.
Now here's the part that's a little difficult to explain:
During a reading, I pay attention to more than just the cards. I notice subtle shifts in my own awareness. Sometimes a topic feels heavier. Sometimes a card seems to demand more attention than it normally would. Sometimes I get a strong feeling that we're circling something important and need to stay with it a little longer.
The easiest way I can describe it is that my body helps guide me through the reading.
I know that's not something I can pull out and prove with a chart or a spreadsheet. It's simply something I've learned to notice after years of practice.
The cards start the conversation. My experience helps me know where to look more closely.
So what is a reading with me actually like? You don't need to know anything about tarot, have the perfect question or even be spiritual.
You definitely don't need to know what a chakra is.
We sit down, talk about what's on your mind, and let the cards give us a different perspective. Sometimes people leave with answers. Sometimes they leave with better questions. Sometimes they simply leave feeling heard.
My goal isn't to tell you what your future will be.
My goal is to help you explore the situation you're standing in right now.
The Hermit carries a lantern, but he doesn't drag anyone down the path.
He just shines enough light for the next step.
That's what I try to do in every reading.
